To ensure Kāinga Ora can continue to scale up the delivery of warm and dry state homes, we have established our own Building Consent Authority.
Supported Housing
Supported Housing brings together publicly funded housing with support services that are essential to the wellbeing of people and whānau living in the home.
The Urban Development Act 2020 empowers Kāinga Ora to initiate, facilitate, and undertake urban development that contributes to sustainable, inclusive, and thriving communities.
Kāinga Ora – Homes and Communities is a Crown entity. It invites Expressions of Interest from suitably qualified property development organisations for appointment to projects.
From time to time, Kāinga Ora will lease privately owned properties in areas where demand for affordable rental housing is high.
The Government introduced the Housing Innovation Fund (HIF) in 2003 to support the growth of third sector social housing in New Zealand.
